Kathie and I spent the weekend in Flagstaff celebrating our 35th anniversary. It was nice, although it did get up to 85F on Saturday. At night, though, it dropped into the 50s. On the drive back yesterday, we watched the thermometer warning us as the heat rose through the 90s into the mid-100s, ending at 108F.
Since my right knee is hurting a bit, we did not do that much hiking. We did some eating, though. We hit two places where Guy Fieri ate on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. One was Salsa Brava for dinner Friday night. The other was Brandy's for brunch on Saturday. Saturday night was reserved for Black Bart's, where NAU students serve as wait staff and sing various (usually Broadway) songs. We love it. We hit Knotty Pine in Payson for lunch on Sunday. Saturday afternoon was spent touring artist's studios during an annual Artist Demonstration weekend. We bought a little jewelry and learned some new places to photograph (just north of Mono Lake!).
I also went up to the aspens near Snowbowl for some photos. In fact, that was the inspiration for this.
Now, though, real life intrudes again. Work and housework and pinkie rehab and a practice test for my CAPM exam. Oh well.
Since we were gone, I do not have any news from kids or folks or anything. And I already told you about our weekend. So, I will let you leave early today. Spend the time you got back getting a jump on your homework, OK? We'll talk more tomorrow.
