Pushups and Cleanups

Let's start with a pushup video. Kyle may not get a lot of exercise from this, but it is much more fun.

Let's start with a couple of before photos of Alison's room.

And here's a couple of photos after I painted (using Lyndsay's recommendations based on Kathie's ideas) and a little furniture rearrangement.

Meeting, Greeting, Defeating

Isabella met a kindred spirit named Isabella. Her parents call her Izzy. I definitely like the name Bella better, don't you?

Meanwhile, Kendall met a kindred spirit and they cooed at each other for a bit. His name is Zach and he is a younger man at only 4 months to Kendall's 5-1/2.

Still, after a while, partying this hard wears even the liveliest down. Just don't try to take her Rice Krispie treat away. Even that bear I see peeking out from her blanket doesn't dare try.

One for Randy?

The interview with University of Phoenix this morning went well. I was only their second interview for three positions, so they are not ready to decide on candidates yet. They said they are not sure when they will be ready, so I'll wait. Still, I felt like I was ready for the questions and communicated my skill set well.

Kathie's school still has not made a decision about their new technology position either, so I guess I am still a possibility on that, too.

We are babysitting Bella and Kendall Sunday night, so I suspect there may be pictures after that.

We saw Indiana Jones tonight. I thought it was good and fun, but not great. I was glad to see Indy again, though. Everyone in the theater reacted nicely when they show that silhouette of him putting on the fedora that you see in the trailer. No, I meant the movie preview, not an actual... never mind.

One for Caleb

I know it's not Star Wars, but it's pretty close. I think you'll really like the singer and the song.

An aside to the others: If you watch CSI:Miami, do a search for Jim Carrey and Horatio Caine (one search with both names) to see Jim imitate David Caruso's style. Quite funny. There are also a couple of videos out there that are just the Caine comment right before the opening credits. We had a good laugh over may of them.

No new pics.

Two Things and Two More Things

I was thinking today...
When I'm alone, and life is making me lonely, I can always go
Downtown

When I've got worries, all the noise and hurry seems to help, I know
Downtown

Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city,
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can I lose?
The lights are much brighter there.. I can forget all my troubles; forget all my cares, and go
Downtown -- things will be great when I'm
Downtown -- I'll find a place for sure
Downtown -- everything's waiting for me.

So, I went downtown and filed paperwork to become certified to teach in AZ. They took my paperwork and previous schoolwork and will send me my provisional certification in 2-3 weeks. I still have to take AZ Constitution, US Constitution, a test on teaching subject knowledge (Math only. Not Music) and a test on classroom management, and a course on teaching English learners. I have a couple of years to finish this.

Then, I just got off of a phone interview with University of Phoenix for an IT position. I have a formal interview this Friday at 9:30, so you can pray that I will know God's Will.

Bella was sticking coins between her toes and fingers. I tried to catch her before she pulled them out and was mostly successful. I had to babysit Monday and Tuesday because they lost their prior daycare provider.

And, as Kara noted, Kendall is always watching her big sister to learn the ins and outs of kidhood.

Good Grief

Alright, let's get the explanation out of the way first. I responded to Kara's treacly sweet little Mother's Day ode in a comment on her blog. I could do it that way because no photos were involved. Go over and check out what sayings I remember from her mom. Since photos were involved with my reply to Lindsay, it had to be in my blog to present them effectively.

Hey, today I worked in third grade. One of the topics she needed covered was "Read a loud Wayside School is Falling Down." That is what it said, not aloud, but a loud. So, I had to shout it. What else could I do?

I had mentioned to the assistant administrator at Dobson Academy that I was interested in talking about the Jr High Math position. Today I heard they had hired someone who didn't even have a math background. Wow. I thought this was where I was supposed to head. How am I not hearing God's guidance right? There is still a new Technology teacher position they are creating that I am meeting with the Head of the school about on Monday, so pray that I hear God's will on this. I also have a man at Univ of Phx that wants to talk to me early next week.

We had dinner over at the girl's house tonight. Here is Kendall and her mommy.

Response to Lindsay (I mean, Not a Response)

I recently had a self-assignment to decide which food item most represented the niece of my choice. I chose Lindsay for no reason, and certainly not because of her putting Aunt Kathie on a stick, which I did not even know she did, and still don't. Which one would you pick?

Happy Mother's Day

We had Mother's Day lunch and dessert over at K&L&I&K's place. Here are some visual memories we all shared.

I think Bella is thinking "Nana, are you going to eat that?"

GrandDad and GrandMom spending some time with Kendall

Kendall told GrandMom a funny joke.

I'm OK!

Smaller Stuff

Smaller photo and smaller granddaughter. OK, ZW, let's try a smaller version of the mosaic. That program I used saves the output as a PNG file at 90MB. That was waaay too big. So, I resaved it as a JPG with MED quality, but it was still 10MB. Here's one less than 5MB. Can you see me now?

I don't know if K&L have taken any videos of Kendall cooing, so I took it upon myself to capture some. Here she is enjoying Winnie the Pooh and friends.

Here's Looking at Me, Kid

I found one of those packages that uses your (actually, it used mine, not yours) photos to create a photo-mosaic of any chosen picture. It took several hours (after all, I am at around 11K pictures), but here it is. The mosiac contains 1600 images. Can you see me?

Wait a minute. Am I supposed to rename my blog, too? It seems like everyone else is. Well, everyone that still blogs. I'll start thinking about it.

Kendall and Isabella are spending the night with us. When Kyle and Lyndsay dropped them off earlier, I caught some footage of the way a two-year-old calls animals. Here, our cat Chino decides not to stick around to see why Bella was calling him. Well, what would you do?

Finals and Endings

Well, in my Java class, the prof gave us the option of taking a test over the last 2 chapters AND the final, or just the chapter test and take the final next Thursday. I wanted to get them over with and even more so when he said he pulled the questions from our previous chapter tests. What? That was exactly what I had studied to prepare. Let's do it! On the chapter test, I did a 32 out of 40, my worst performance to date. And as usual, the ones I missed should not have been hard. On the final, I also missed one that should not have been missed. It was what the declaration of a main method starts with. How could I miss that? The answer was shown on several of the later questions. Oh well. I got 92 out of 94 on it.

I was perusing job posting this morning and came across one: I can haz dream Job? My rezumez! let me showz u thm" That's the subject line of a cover letter sent by a job applicant to I Can Has Cheezburger, one of the premier sites for so-called Lolcat pictures. Don't think the letter will be rejected out of hand — bad spelling is no obstacle to a job in Lolcat world. It may even be an asset.

So, I kind of like the idea of changing English so that the letter z is how make everything plural. Words like skillz, carz, zebraz, pluralz. After all, we use that sound when we sing wordz that end with s. The only timez I think it would be a problem is situations such as a room full of Elizabethz. Would they be Lizz or Liz'?

I think I want to talk about the wordz that we use to denote a group of something such as a murder of crowz. Remind me to do that soon.

No job yet. I am subbing 4 dayz next week. Fourth grade, Fifth grade and Art. I talked to my prof last night about job opportunitiez at ASU where he workz. They laid off 4 IT people last week and the school facez a 12 million dollar deficit this year. Hmm. Doesn't sound good, does it? Just think how much trouble I would be in if there WERE a recession.

Girlz are spending the night tomorrow night. I'd better clean up a bit.
