Where's My Whale Bus?

Yesterday's email 365 Stupidest Things Ever Said calendar is one Preacher Bro will appreciate (well, in the sense that this has never happened to him): Next week's preacher will be pinned to the Notice Board. - in a church bulletin.

On Saturday night, we went to a local mini-golf place made over for Halloween. Well, JV did not, but the girls went. We had a good time and followed that up with some video games ebfore we left the place. They played a jump rope electronic game, dance machine, a new version of air hockey, and grab for candy. I played the air hockey with them, and played one game of Mars Attacks.

It has been at least a week since I heard about a new flavor of Oreos. Now, they are introducing "Filled Cupcake," inspired by the Hostess Cupcakes. I actually have not tasted any of the alternate flavors from recent years. Have you? Which did you like?

It has also been at least a week since we saw an Ikea hack. They claim this one will save enough to pay your rent. Wow, that's a pretty good saving. It went from this...

to this.

I cannot remember ever sharing anything about predictions in 1900 of what the year 2000 would be like. These drawings are both accurate and waaaay off. Take a look at them here. Whale bus is one of the things that has NOT come to pass.

I just saw an article talking about things that will soon become obsolete. One of them is remote controls. Do you agree? They are making the case that our smartphone can do everything the remotes do. And what about alarm clocks? Well, check out the list and see what you think.

Last night, we went to one of those pizza places that has a huge Wurlitzer organ that does all sorts of instruments and sounds. The GRANDS went crazy dancing at almost every song. It was a lot of fun. I was tired and all I did was watch them. The organist even did an old Emerson, Lake and Palmer song (Hoedown, an arrangement of an Aaron Copland song).

Have you been wishing you had access to all of the photos from the Apollo missions to the moon? Of course, they have been available since 1999 (you knew that, of course, so you have been partying like it's 1999 already). Now, they have also been placed on Facebook and Flickr. You'll find links in this article. Oh, look. Here's a faked shot from Apollo 15 (facetious comment for those that think the Apollo trips to the moon were faked).

Are you a fall foliage follower? I do like it. Here is the prediction of colors for the week of Oct 10 this year. Is your favorite spot looking good? Want to see your spot in a different week? This interactive graph will show you.

Do you like BBQ? There is a place in Austin that is stirring up a little controversy along with their sauce. Franklin BBQ had disallowed one person holding a place in line for a group earlier this summer. Now, they have banned all line holders and order takers. The question is: Do ya feel lucky, punk? Would you wait five hours to eat at any place? I can already tell you my patience is not that long. Sorry, Franklin.

You know what goes good with BBQ? A nice root beer, or even Dr Pepper.

Five-ingredient slow cooker recipes? Yup, we have some today, and they sound pretty good. No, I have not tried any of them.

Time zup for today. It's Monday and I have a LOT to do, We had the GRANDS over the weekend and I didn't work as much as I usually do. It was nice to get the break, and I will tell you more about our weekend tomorrow. Until then, make it a Miraculous Monday.

Thanks for the "call out."
Looks like a good time to be in the mountains of western Colorado!
