A Plethora of Pithy Perusals

It has been a while since we shared any Oreo art, hasn't it? I will share this Katy Perry Oreo and ask that you check out the others (including Picasso and Jaws) in the article.

Did you hear that three NFL teams have applied to move to L.A.? The Raiders, Rams, and Chargers are all looking to move to a market where they can build a new stadium and make bigger bucks. When I read this and started writing the paragraph, I was going to write negatives about these moves, but actually, I cannot fault the owners for seeking greener pastures. I don't really like the change, but it does seem L.A. would easily support at least one team, right? Well, as long as I am not paying the taxes to build the stadium.

Tell me the truth. Did you buy a Powerball ticket this week? If so, you have a chance to win $400 million dollars. More precisely, you have a 1-in-290 million chance. The odds of being struck twice by lightning are 1-in-300,000, or roughly 1,000 times more likely. BTW, no, I did not buy a ticket... I bought five. Ha ha. No, I didn't buy any. And as my state's lottery department says, "You can't win if you don't play."

There's an app for that. How many times have you heard that about all sorts of topics. I came across a new one this morning that can tell you why your baby is crying. It was developed by Taiwanese developers and boasts a 92% accuracy rate for infants under two weeks old. Even for a four month old baby, the accuracy can reach 77%. It is available for both iPhones and Androids.

Oh, the places you'll go. Have you ever heard of that Dr. Seuss book? Actually, I am referring to an article I saw about travel which notes that this is the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Their number one pick is Yosemite. However, they also have a host of other spots, such as New Mexico, Detroit, Sicily, and even Disneyland.

So you want to lose a few pounds. You've heard the mantra: "Eat right. Work out." But when it comes down to it, which one of those things will make a bigger difference in helping you achieve your weight-loss goals? What do you think? A scientist in Texas (so you know it must be true) has weighed in (get the clever humor there?) and says ... diet. However, exercise has its part to play. The article ends with "So if you want to lose weight in 2016, consider adjusting your diet. And if you want to keep it off, get moving."

I would guess that a pizza is not the food to eat if you are serious about weight loss. Still, check this one out. It is a delicious veggie, no cheese pizza I got for lunch this past weekend. It even has roasted brussel sprouts. I wonder how far I need to walk to burn it off, though.

Did I mention that we went to see Straight No Chaser last week? It was really fun. I like that style of music (a Capella) and they delivered. Here is the stage setup before it started.

And a shot of the set list on the desk of the lighting coordinator. You can see they started off with Shut Up and Dance, did a Marvin Gaye number, then did Happy and Church, and so on.

I tried to upload a video, but it is too large for Blogger. Instead, check out this video of one of the songs they sang, their famous Movie Medley (of songs that do not normally have words such as the James Bond theme).

When I come back to work after a holiday, I always have to check in with everyone to see how their time off was, what they did, those sorts of things. Inevitably, that also occurs when we get together in a meeting.

As you saw above, I did find quite a number of things that interested me this morning. Hopefully, we both learned something and whiled away a few minutes together. Now, I am not sure what you are fixing to do, but I need to do some work. I have an 8-9am call that I need to prepare for. And then a 10am call, an 11am call, a 12pm call, and a 1pm meeting. I end my day with a 4pm call. Yup. It's one of those types of days. It's Tremendous Tuesday, though, so enjoy it.
