684-to-3. The Odd Odds.

Today’s post contains 684 words and only 3 images, and none of them are WDW or family. Odd, right? And we will be discussing odds several times. Enjoy.

I thought about starting today's blog with this, but decided it was too depressing. It is an article talking about the sugar hidden inside 23 restaurant foods. The worst contains 200 g of sugar. So what, you ask? Well, the USDA recommends 45 grams of sugar a day, tops, or about 11 teaspoons. But organizations from the American Heart Association to the World Health Organization recommend cutting that number further; they say no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day (about six teaspoons) is best for optimal health.

To balance that, let's look at which cities are the fittest in the country. Some of the findings include: Seattle ranked #1 under the category of percentage of people who engage in physical activity. Three cities in Texas (Fort Worth, Arlington and El Paso) came in at the bottom of this same category. The top five cities with the highest number of fitness centers per capita are—for the most part—pleasant-weather cities: San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and Scottsdale. Go read more here.

Just because three Texas cities are not fit doesn't mean people are avoiding the Lone Star State. In fact, it is growing in population as people move down from the Snow-Belt to the Sun-Belt. If the population shift continues, Texas could gain three new seats in the U.S. House, Florida two, and Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina and Oregon one apiece after the next census. Nine states — Alabama, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia — could meanwhile lose a seat apiece.

Did you hear that the new Star Wars flick is now the #3 earning movie of all time? Only Avatar and Titanic have earned more. Can it be stopped? I suspect not.

Thinking of movies, have you taken any of your own that you want to share with the world? Of course, one of the primary platforms for sharing is YouTube. Watch this youtube video to learn how to share a video on youtube. Be sure to let me know if you do this. I will go and share your excitement.

While we are in an entertainment-reporting mode, I am sure that you heard Davie Bowie died. I do like some of his music, but I will admit I do not actually own any. Weirdly, when I heard the news this morning, the first song I thought of was not Space Oddity or Under Pressure, but him singing Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby.

No, I did not read the article, but this teaser headline in Yahoo caught my eye. Why? Well, I did watch the show back in its heyday, but when I saw this photo, my first thought was, "If they really want us to wonder about the cast then and now, maybe that photo shows what really happened to Richie?"

And keeping that theme alive, I did not watch any of the Golden Globes award last night, and from the vitriol on the web, it sounds as if I did not miss much. However, commenting on it did give me a chance to use the word 'vitriol'.

Maybe you are not the type to purchase a lottery ticket. Still, doesn't the chance of winning $1.3 billion sound intriguing? Maybe you are the type or evaluate the odds, since they are a smaller-than-minuscule 292,201,338-to-one. Well, we both have until Wednesday to decide if we throw a couple of bucks at it. Should you buy one? Well, the odds of finding a four-leaf clover are 1-in-10,000, so if you have ever found one, maybe you are lucky. Of course, these odds are 29,000 times worse for winning the Powerball, and finding a clover is free.

And another week begins. Didn't we just finish one? Anyway, not admitting it won't keep it away, so let's start now. You know what I am going to say next. Make it a Marvelous Monday, my friends.
