RIP, Gale

Our daughter-in-love's maternal grandfather passed away yesterday. After a lengthy illness, he was called Home to be with his beloved wife, Margaret, and friends and family that preceded him. He had been a family friend for decades; it started even before his granddaughter and our son started dating. I know that I will miss him, and his family even more. At least, he is no longer in pain and loneliness. His funeral will be this coming Saturday. I could say, "Rest in Peace, Gale," but we already know that is true. Not just peace, but eternal happiness with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

More than once, I have reminded you that the Monkees just reached their 50th anniversary. So what, you may have asked yourself. Yesterday, I came across this article explaining the 'So what?' of this newsworthy finding. The author shares that they fell in just the right spot as the Beatles transitioned from pop to psychedelic and leaving their crazy movies behind, the Stones were a darker band, the Beach Boys were moving into their Pet Sounds period. The Monkees came along and filled the gap just when we needed it.

McGriddles any time of the day? You've gotten your wish starting today.

Did you hear that Apple has filed a new patent. Pretty exciting, right? Maybe it's for their newest device that will take the place of an iPad or the Apple Watch. Oh, wait. It is a patent for a paper bag. Yup, that's it. No tech involved. There are a few more details shared here.

Newspaper blackout quote:

National Pecan Cookie Day? Really? Well, that 's what this Wikipedia page claims. It lists all food days for a bunch of countries. Yesterday was National Pepperoni Pizza Day. How did I not know that?

Here's a bunch of our crew sitting near Cascade Falls during the summer reunion trip. It was a nice visit and total pandemonium there as we all hiked around and got a little wet.

Here we are being a little less 'posey' (isn't that a word?).

Here is a shot with just the waterfall. How did I get this photo without any of the family in it? I don't know, but I think it is a bit more fun when someone is in the photo.

Somehow, I ran out of time, so we'll call it a day. Tonight, our Survivor ritual begins again with dinner and the show at the folks' house. However, IT Sis is not in a Survivor pool this year, but hopefully, she will still suggest who might get voted off each evening. See you soon.
