It's Flag Day. That means we should all be raising the colors outside of our house and/or business. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14th in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. In the spirit of that, I read this morning that, over the weekend, Facebook published an article about the Philippine Independence Day and used the flag depiction for when they are at war. Yes, it makes a difference. It published a bespoke banner to its Philippine users this weekend featuring the country's flag with the red part at the top and the blue part at the bottom. This signifies that the country is in a state of war, noted the Philippine Star, which spotted the blunder. Interesting, isn't it?
Most importantly for today is that it is SS's birthday. Whoo to the Hoo, right? Pretty soon, he'll be driving, get a real job, then get married and have kids. Oh, wait. He's already done all of that. I am proud of the man he has become; the man God has led him to be. Happy birthday, son. Here's 10 Groot Dollars for you from the defaced bill collection.
Did you watch that OJ Simpson mini-series last year? We did, and we certainly enjoyed it. It brought up discussions and memories from 20 years before. Remember when OJ Simpson tried on the glove and it didn't fit? A new documentary has a previously unknown explanation. OJ had quit taking his arthritis medication and his hands had swollen. Could be.
I had my annual physical yesterday. I don't know the results from the blood work, but otherwise, I seem healthy. That should carry me until next year's physical. Oh, I brought this up to share that part of this year's exam was to set a baseline for my Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) check for signs of dementia. I passed with a score of 30 out of 30. The doc said that my recent episodes of some forgetfulness at work were almost certainly related to stress. I sort of knew that, but I wanted to get checked anyway. He suggested I take more breaks, including leaving my work area for a walk or some other mental distraction.
Hey, Photoshop dude. Got anything for us?
This inanimate object looks pretty cool, doesn't it? OK, it looks like something from Lord of the Rings.
As I have often shared, I do sometimes wonder what makes me interpret things so uniquely in my family. However, even I would never have seen this interpretation of a corrupted coloring book page.
I have already shared a couple of Clarity of Vision comics based on road signs. This (final?) one is the first one I thought of as I passed many 'soft shoulder' signs on the freeway coming home for the graduation last week. And, truthfully, my shoulder is more bony than soft.
Well, I need to use my non-impaired brain to get some stuff done for my first conference call at 8:30am. Y'all have a Totally Awesome Tuesday today, OK. It is only supposed to reach 100F here, so that's always a good thing.
